PIRRITU’s music is a gentle, honest, and melodic personal journey that entices you into the depths of sadness, love, and shimmering hope. With two album releases under his belt, The songman’s work honours a cultural journey connecting to land, language, and family with a continual thirst for deeper understanding. Pirritu’s music features folk instrumentation weaving amongst his unique vocals like the gentle wind and waters that the Ngiyampaa man sings of. GuriNgai sisters Charlie and Miri from Live Looping act Charlie Needs Braces have drawn in audiences across Australia, their energetic musical landscapes weaving together stories and language. In 2022 they came first place in the Upstart Awards, and won the Archie Roach Award for Emerging Talent in 2023 through Music Victoria Awards. Kiwat Kennell, a proud Eastern Torres Strait Islander from Ugar (Stephens) and Erub (Darnley), grew up in a household where law enforcement and government service were central to daily life. This upbringing gave him a unique perspective—one that balanced respect for authority with firsthand awareness of the systemic injustices affecting Indigenous people. His struggles with depression, anxiety, and childhood trauma led him to turn to music as an outlet for self-expression. After the dissolution of his award-winning band Key Hoo, Kiwat stepped into the spotlight as a solo artist, blending raw emotion, cultural pride, and unapologetic truth. His music explores the weight of identity, the complexities of mental health, and the power of storytelling. Each song is a deeply personal reflection—one that speaks to those who have felt unseen, unheard, or misunderstood.
