“cutting-edge new york piano trio that sounds exactly like what contemporary jazz should be right now”
event details
GRAMMY-winning pianist and composer Kris Davis stands at the forefront of New York’s contemporary jazz scene, described by The New York Times as a beacon for “deciding where to hear jazz on a given night.” Across her career she has collaborated with artists such as Terri Lyne Carrington, Dave Holland, Craig Taborn, John Zorn and Esperanza Spalding, was awarded DownBeat’s Pianist of the Year in 2020, 2022 and 2025, and in 2021 was named a Doris Duke Artist alongside Wayne Shorter and Danilo Pérez.
Joined by the extraordinary talents of Robert Hurst on bass and Johnathan Blake on drums, the Kris Davis Trio will deliver contemporary jazz at its highest level, with a suite of music that is “precisely and unmistakably the sound of today” (DownBeat).
This performance is part of the Melbourne International Jazz Festival 2026.
