event details

on October 16th The Maggie Pills are taking over the Bergy Bandroom to help raise funds for the Venezuelan earthquake victims. The earthquakes that happened in Venezuela on June 24 left a death toll of over 5,300, with tens of thousands still missing. With many buildings completely demolished or damaged, thousands are now homeless. The international response was huge, with donations flowing and volunteers from all over the world flying there to help, but as time goes by, the engagement is going down; rebuilding and recovering will take time, and in the meantime, a lot of people need all the help we can give them. The Maggie Pills will join forces with local acts The Stripp, Kristol Pisstol, Wavedrive and Fireroots. THE MAGGIE PILLS are a fierce, six-piece punk and alternative rock band based in Naarm/Melbourne, The band is known for their raw, ’90s-style punk sound, intense live shows, and politically-charged lyrics. THE STRIPP are a high-energy, turbo charged rock n roll machine carving their own unique chapter in Australia’s rich sonic history. WAVEDRIVE is an alt-metal band blending hard rock grit, grunge rawness, and metalcore intensity into an explosive wall of sound. KRISTOL PISSTOL cook up hardcore power violence noise that is best ingested through the ear canals. The band are yet to organise a way to prepare edible audible onslaught, but when they have accomplished such, their blisteringly erratic piss flavoured Kristol will become transcendent. FIRE ROOTS was started by South American immigrants seeking community through a fusion of alt rock, punk, metal, and Latin rhythms. All proceedings from this event will be donated to the victims and their families through Mates Without Borders.
