Motown & Beyond

Motown & Beyond is a local Inner West Sydney ensemble who perform classic soul, funk & RnB featuring an amazingly talented line up of musicians bringing to life all your favourite classic hits to dance the night away. They celebrate music from the Motown era & beyond (1959-the present), including greats such as Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Eddie Floyd, Grover Washington, The Temptations, James Brown as well as later artists inspired by the Motown style such as Eric Clapton, The Beatles, Bryan Ferry, Human Nature, Gloria Gaynor, George Michael, Tina Turner and Amy Winehouse. Originally Motown music was specifically written and mixed to sound good on car radios (in Detroit where the style was born) and is characterised by a thumping back beat which made everyone want to get up and dance.
