We've lined up a stellar roster of your fave local artists and some exciting new talents breezing through town! This week we have a Kasumuen Takeover with Sister Paul (JP), Velvet Parade and Ebi Nori and the Phantom Fingers stopping by for a show. Sister Paul are a m/f fronted band from the heart of the Tokyo underground whose punk-pop/post-punk tunes are infused with a glam aesthetic that lights up the stage. Hot on the heels of their second full US tour, Sister Paul tour Australia this May, playing a 12-date tour that hits major capitals Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra as well as ducking in to a whole bunch of regional towns along the way. This colourful band oozes an open and inclusive vibe on stage blended with Japanese mannerisms. They make driving rock n roll fun and accessible - just ask the audience who were wowed by them supporting Kim Salmon’s Smoked Salmon at a recent festival. Come and see for yourself: Mackii, the hardest hitting drummer to play a kazoo whilst thumping the tubs and Susumu’s two amp monster sound! Velvet Parade are a noir-rock 5-piece, based in Naarm (Melbourne) Playing their first show in late 2023, they released their debut “Ghost” in 2024. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Loki Lockwood (Ella Thompson, Hugo Race, The Drones, Mick Harvey/Amanda Acevedo). Released via Kasumuen Records. Backseat Mafia said of their debut release – “This is quite frankly a stunning debut from a band that has only been together a year... has a statuesque presence” Since then the band has supported The Cambodian Space Project, X, The Sand Pebbles, Majestic Horses, Japan’s BUDDHADATTA and Sister Paul. As well as completing their debut Japanese tour in 2025, Velvet Parade have toured interstate to Canberra, Sydney and Adelaide annually. Ebi Nori and The Phantom Fingers are a Melbourne-based rock band known for their genre-blending sound, combining punk, alternative,math, post-punk, grunge, and noise -rock influences.
