The New Generation of Jazz presents The CCG Sextet

Venue: Brisbane Jazz Club, 1 Annie Street, Kangaroo Point 4169 QLD. The CCG Sextet is led by three sensational up-and-coming students from the Queensland Conservatorium. William Clegg is studying Jazz trombone and composition with an interest in hard-bop and contemporary jazz. Michael Ganderton is a jazz tenor saxophonist/multi-instrumentalist with a passion for big band arranging and composing. Isla Carruthers is a jazz pianist/multi-instrumentalist and is particularly influenced by Cuban music and Latin jazz. She moved from her hometown of Cairns to study at the Con and is a frequent performer at the Cairns Tropic Jazz Club. This eclectic crew is joined by three more of the Con’s best – Jayden Fulwood on drums, Ky Fulwood on bass and Marley Clear on trumpet – to create an energetic night of hard-bop with a modern swing and next-gen sensibility.
